This 36-credit, CAHME-accredited program—the only one of its kind in Connecticut and one of just four in New England—offers a flexible, cutting-edge curriculum. You’ll gain a deep understanding of the past, present, and future of healthcare, preparing you to identify and address challenges within the system. With competency in 11 key areas of healthcare management, you’ll build a strong foundation to make an impact and emerge as a leader in the evolving healthcare landscape.

Mission, Vision & Values

The Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) program at the University of New Haven is dedicated to preparing students to become impactful, person-centered leaders in healthcare through an evidence-based, experiential, and community-focused education. Its vision is to be the program of choice for aspiring healthcare leaders, fostering an active learning community committed to advancing better healthcare and improved health for all. The program is guided by eight core values—person-centeredness, competency-based education, community-based experiential learning, integrity, diversity and inclusion, leadership development, evidence-based continuous improvement, and lifelong learning—which shape the educational experience and prepare students to make meaningful contributions to their organizations and communities.

What You Will Learn

Develop advanced competency across 11 core areas of healthcare administration, as measured by the Peregrine Healthcare Administration Competency Exam. Gain a deep understanding of health systems and organizations, organizational climate and culture, and healthcare information technology. Equip yourself with skills in financial management, health law and policy, data analysis, and communication and relationship management. Strengthen critical thinking, decision-making, leadership abilities, and personal and professional accountability, preparing you to lead effectively in today’s complex healthcare environment.
