How We Keep College Affordable

At the University of New Haven, we believe a high-quality education should be accessible to every student. Our commitment to affordability means offering transparent pricing, generous financial aid, and personalized support throughout your college journey. Explore the many ways we help make your education an investment you can feel confident about.

Graduate Assistantships and Scholarships

Graduate students can access Provost’s Assistantships, which provide up to 75% tuition assistance along with an hourly wage in exchange for teaching or research work.

The Dean’s Scholarship offers generous merit-based funding—covering up to 50% of tuition—for full-time master’s students.

Loans

There are three types of loan programs for graduate students: Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans, Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans, and private student loans.

  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans provide up to $20,500 per academic year (for students enrolled at least half-time) with fixed interest and a loan fee.
  • Federal Direct Graduate PLUS Loans are a credit-based federal loan where students who are determined to be eligible may borrow up to the cost of attendance minus any financial aid the student is receiving.
  • If further financing is needed, private loans are also an option, though these typically require a credit-worthy co-signer and may come with higher, variable interest rates.

Payment Options

The University of New Haven provides several convenient ways to pay your tuition and fees. You can make one-time payments through ePay using e-check (no fee) or major credit/debit cards (with a service fee). There’s also an interest-free monthly installment plan (five payments per semester, $50 enrollment fee), and international students can use Flywire for wire transfers.
